
The Authorities of Saint Lucia via Export Saint Lucia is in receipt of seed funding from the Meals and Agriculture Group of the United Nations (FAO) to implement a undertaking entitled “Empowering Girls in Meals Programs and Strengthening the Native Capacities and Resilience of SIDS within the Agri-Meals sector”. The undertaking is being carried out, partly, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Meals Safety and Rural Improvement.
This undertaking goals to strengthen ladies’s participation and advantages from the event of particular worth chains. The undertaking will obtain this by enhancing entry to assets, offering revolutionary and climate-resilient companies, applied sciences, and practices. The 2 chosen worth chains are sea moss and Apiculture (honey).
As Export Saint Lucia begins to take extra concrete steps towards the completion of this undertaking, a stakeholder session was organized. Contributors at that session had been launched to the ocean moss worth chain, in addition to displays on gender consciousness.
The stakeholder session is a precious step within the efforts to broaden the island’s sea moss choices to enhance the already profitable sundried sea moss exports and to evaluate methods by which the apiculture trade could be additional developed.
